My Favorite Boston Clam Chowder

Quick together with Delicious Clam Chowder (can I larn a hooray for this soup, Queen B.?) which is low-cal together with creamy together with a fleck soupier than the traditional clam chowder that is thick together with hearty plenty to stand upward up to a skillful bread bowl.

Other than the quick recipe noted above, this recipe I'm going to part amongst you lot is hands downward our favorite classic clam chowder. It originates from my sister-in-law, Erin (contributor to The Sisters Cafe blog) together with her mom has been making it for years together with years. Can Nosotros country tried-and-true? Boston Clam Chowder


  • 1 loving cup chopped onion
  • 1 loving cup chopped celery
  • 2 cups diced, peeled potatoes (I role Yukon Gold or Red potatoes)
  • 3/4 loving cup butter
  • 3/4 loving cup flour
  • 1-quart half-and-half
  • 2 (6.5-oz.) cans minced clams
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons crimson vino vinegar

Pepper to taste

Drain the clams together with a reserve the liquid. In a large pot, house the vegetables together with pouring the clam juice over the top. Add plenty of H2O to barely encompass the vegetables. Simmer over medium oestrus until the vegetables are almost tender (don't overcook them inward this step!), close five minutes. Meanwhile, inward a saucepan, melt the butter together with add together the flour, making a roux amongst a wire whisk. Constantly stirring, add together the half-and-half slowly. Cook together with stir until shine together with thickened, without boiling. When slightly thickened, add together the roux to the vegetables together with add together the clams, salt, vinegar together with pepper (to taste). Can perish along with warm (without boiling!) for an upward to an hr or serve immediately.
