APPLE BANANA SMOOTHIE

A simple and refreshing smoothie, this apple banana smoothie is a delightful pick-me-up. With a touch of cinnamon, the flavor brings back memories of when my mom would sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on sliced apples as a way to get me to eat them. Like most kids, I didn’t like fruits and vegetables. Things sure have changed for me!


The flavors in this smoothie might be delicate, but it packs in many health benefits. Apples are known to be filling – especially when you keep the skin on them. They can also help control blood sugar levels and have strong antioxidant benefits. The added banana is a good source of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Bananas also may have many health benefits including helping to lower blood pressure, supporting heart health, and helping to control blood glucose levels.

Apple Banana Smoothie
Serves 1


  • 1 apple, cored and sectioned
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla powder or extract (optional, skip this if you are using vanilla protein powder)
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder (optional, the one I use can be found here)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 to 5 ice cubes
